Several previous posts have shown statistics on what types of positions complete certain cataloging tasks and whether those tasks are completed inside or outside of the cataloging unit. We have now analyzed this data based on the type of institution that completed the survey. The institution types that are included are Doctoral University, Master’s College or University, Baccalaureate College, Associates College, and Special Focus Institution. The majority of survey respondents were from either Doctoral Universities or Master’s Colleges/Universities, so the results for the smaller institutions may not represent those types of institutions quite as well.

The next several posts will include information about the cataloging tasks for each type of institution, showing whether tasks are completed inside or outside of the traditional cataloging unit and what types of positions are most likely to complete those tasks.
